| Gold deposits are a strategically important mineral resource in China.About 114 gold deposits have been identified (including 7 large-scale deposits) in Yunnan Province. Based on the compilation and analysis of previous research data and typical deposit studies, this paper outlines the genetic types, spatial and temporal distribution of gold deposits in Yunnan Province, summarizes the metallogenic regularities, and discusses prospecting directions. Gold deposits in Yunnan Province can be classified into eight types: porphyry-type, shear zone-type, magmatic hydrothermal-type, fractured zone altered rock-type, Carlin-type, continental volcanic rock-type, weathering-type, and placer-type. Porphyry-type, shear zone-type, and fractured zone altered rock-type gold deposits are mainly concentrated near the Ailao Mountain–Zhongdian fault zone, with the intrusion of alkali-rich porphyry bodies during the Yanshanian and Himalayan periods being the most critical factor for their formation. Carlin-type and magmatic hydrothermal-type gold deposits are associated with Yanshanian and Himalayan tectonism, magmatic activity, and terrigenous clastic rock–carbonate rock formations. Through a comprehensive analysis of the metallogenic regularities and mineralization processes of gold deposits in the province, combined with the results of potential assessments, six prospecting target areas have been delineated. This provides a scientific basis for gold exploration in Yunnan Province. |
