The deposit types, spatial distribution and development and utilization of tungsten deposits in China |
The tungsten deposits can be classified into 7 major types: porphyry-, skarn-, greisen-, quartz vein-, altered granite-type tungsten deposit, sand tungsten deposit and other type of tungsten deposit in China. The skarn- and quartz vein-type tungsten deposits are dominated in China among these types of tungsten deposits. The spatial distribution, development and utilization of tungsten deposits in China are compiled in the paper. Tungsten deposits are divided into 13 metallogenic belts (regions). Tungsten ore in China is characterized by wide distribution and local concentration. Tungsten resources and reserves are dominated by large- and medium-sized orefields and scheelite ores. There are many paragenetic and associated components in tungsten deposits with the comprehensive great utilization value in China. There are little rich tungsten ores, many poor tungsten ores. Tungsten deposits are the dominant mineral resources in China. China is the most significant producer and exporter of tungsten in the world. China's annual output of tungsten accounts for 81% of the world's annual output. Tungsten industry chain is integrated in China. The front end and the middle end of China tungsten industry chain have obvious advantages in the world. At the same time, the high-quality hard alloy with high performance and high precision relies on imports. |
