封面故事:阿波罗-12月岩锆石电镜照片。通过改善SHRIMP II定年流程, 建立了月岩锆石测年技术方法。基于对Appollo12和Appollo14登月获得的毫米级撞击熔融岩屑进行的原位锆石离子探针测年, 重新厘定了月球早期历史几次重要事件的时代。精确测定雨海纪月球遭受强烈撞击事件年龄为39.2亿年,改写了国际普遍接受的强烈撞击事件年龄为38.5亿年的传统认识。这项由中国地质科学院地质研究所刘敦一研究员主持的中美合作科研成果,当选2010年度中国地质科学院十大科技进展,排名第一。(图片提供:刘敦一)
Cover Story:Electron microscopic image of zircon from Appollo12 lunar rock. Dating technology for lunar rock zircon has been established through improving SHRIMP II dating procedure. On the basis of in situ zircon SHRIMP dating of micrometer-scale impact melt breccias collected by Appollo12 and Appollo14 landing on the moon, the ages of several important events in the early history of the moon have been determined again. The age of the event during which the moon experienced strong impact of Imbrian was accurately determined to be 3.92 Ga instead of the widely used 3.85 Ga which was accepted by most researchers in the world. The research achievement directed by Professor LIU Dun-yi, Institute of Geology, CAGS, which is jointly with Sino-USA, ranks the first among “Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progresses of CAGS in 2010”.
